We welcomed Headteachers, Governors and Diocesan Directors of Education on 24 June, 2011 to our 3rd Annual Emmaus Education Conference on the challenging subject of Succession Planning in Church Schools. There were lively debates amongst attendees in response to the thought provoking talks given by our three speakers; Paul Bennett, Director, Primary School Leadership at the National College, Frank Keenan, Professional Officer from the Catholic Diocese of Brentwood and Howard Worsley, former Chair of the Association of Anglican Diocesan Directors of Education.
As the Rt Revd Bishop Kieran Conry, Bishop of Arundel & Brighton in his conference closing address highlighted, we are delighted that our Conferences continue to provide a welcome ecumenical opportunity for Directors of Education and Headteachers across the whole Church Schools spectrum to gather together to exchange ideas and share experiences. Bishop Kieran also commented:
"The recent Emmaus conference showed that there is interest up and down the country in this initiative... It is becoming increasingly difficult to recruit teachers and especially heads for our faith schools, and the support of something like Emmaus is invaluable."
And a date for your 2012 diary...
Details of the 2012 Emmaus Education Conference will be published in the Autumn, but in the meantime please keep Friday 22 June, 2012.
